Did You Know ?

Makeup Artists Favorite Tips

Cut false eyelashes in half and glue from the center of your eye out towards the corner for a more natural and glamorous “cat eye” look

When applying glue to lashes let the glue dry approx 60 seconds before applying the lash

You can use your favorite peach or pink or brown blush for eyeshadow

Some eyeshadow colors in powder form make great lip color just put a clear gloss or lip balm on and gently dab the eye color on your finger and dab on lips

If your out and forgot your blush but have lip stick just put a dab on your cheek and rub it in for that rosy look

Adding water to any eyeshadow intensifies the color for that night time “ready for the red carpet look”  Just dab your eyeshadow brush in a touch of water dab the shadow and apply

Use a concealer that is slightly thinner because when you apply it under your eye it won’t clog those creases which makes you look tired.  Only apply in areas of your face where your skin pigment is slightly darker.

Avoid  overly shimmery makeup  as it can make you look a little older

Before applying mascara or eyelashes massage eye pencil into the roots of the lashes gives the illusion of thicker lashes

Apply a natural brown color powder not pencil to fill in gaps in your eyebrows

Brownish red or black colors in eyebrows  are not a good choice as they can make you look older

Hydrolife Tinted Moisturizer by Dior

I can’t say enough about Dior. I’m not a product pusher really but I can tell you that the type of foundation you use makes a huge difference.  When applying your makeup it’s like building a house. Would you want to build on solid ground or sinking sand? Well same thing with foundation. Your foundation if it’s blotchy or the wrong pigment can ruin your entire look.  I love this tinted moisturizer by Dior. Not only does it go with every skin tone but it makes you look glowing and beautiful.  If you want that sun-kissed skin look that has a youthful glow you really need to try this product it’s one of my favorites!

Quick Makeup Tips To Make New Moms Look Great

If you use to spend an hour or more putting on your face, you’ve probably noticed now well, not su much.

These quick tips will save time by choosing foolproof products that do double duty. For coverage, moisture, and sun protection in one step, pick a tinted moisturizer with an SPF of 15 or higher instead of a heavier foundation. You can put it on in a flash, and it’s more forgiving if you miss a spot or don’t blend it in well. (If you need extra help hiding your dark circles, dab concealer under your eyes.) Concealer does wonders.

Dust on some color. A subtle peach shade works for most skin tones and can be lightly brushed on cheeks and eyelids for a hint of color. For a warmer look, you can do this using a pressed-powder bronzer, but use a light touch to avoid dark splotches and streaks. A color stick that can be used on your lips, cheeks, and eyelids can be a handy tool.

Pick a tinted gloss. It’ll give you color and moisture but won’t require meticulous application. Just slick it on and you’re set . Note: Makeup pros say that if you only have time to do one thing, do your lips — it can instantly brighten up your entire face.
But I think that mascara does wonders as well..vaseline on your lips and some mascara on your eyes and your face will look brighter immediately.

Here is today’s make up tip.

If you suffer from scaly lips, a simple do-it-yourself trick to exfoliate them takes only a finger scoop of Vaseline and a toothbrush.Step 1: Slather lips with petroleum jelly
Step 2: Use a toothbrush to massage in the jelly in a circular motion.
Step 3: Wipe off the excess petroleum jelly.

The toothbrush exfoliates lips while the petroleum jelly leaves lips extra soft. Repeat a couple of times a day until your lips are no longer scaly.

Back Off The Bump Please

The following is an excerpt from my recent book I’m working on…I hope you enjoy the humor

Sometimes I get the feeling that my new pregnant body must look like a genie’s lamp because I have never had so many people try to rub me in my life.  I really don’t  get the obsession of rubbing the belly.  I even had to think to myself if I ever had the urge to reach out and touch one of my girlfriends pregnant bellies and rub it…NO never had that urge.

Perhaps they are fascinated with how round I have become, or perhaps it’s like one of those stress rocks as they rub on me they fell better.  I don’t really know all I know is I don’t like it.  And the funny thing is you see this hand coming at you and it’s almost like slow motion in my eyes, only it’s not.  Before I have time to say, “no thank you” there is the hand rubbing on my belly…..oh brother!

I wonder if this is some weird ritual that started centuries ago where women said,  “This is what we’ll do, lets rub her belly  it will bring good luck.”    Who knows I can’t figure it all out.  All I know is every time I’m around my friends they start making cooing noises, then they rub and talk to my belly.

I want to tell them,  “My baby doesn’t have ears yet!” or  “Listen, I don’t want my kid to hear 100 different voices yet…just mine.”  Or , “Hey can you stop rubbing me please you’re wearing the flesh off my body I only have so much to go around.”  But it seems hopeless so most times I just grin and bear it.

But the next time you see a pregnant friend don’t just reach out and start rubbing…just fight the urge.

Maybe we can start a belly’s anonomous group.  “ Hi my name is Mary and I’m  a belly rubbing addict”  Hi Mary.

Who knows maybe I will start a trend.

Unless you are sure that a magic Jeanie will come out of your girlfriends belly and grant you your lifetime wish of a cabana boy, a cool tea, some grapes and a fan, please  back off the bump.

Etsy a Mom’s Favorite Shopping Spot

I can’t say enough great things about this website. I love love love Etsy.  I’ve had some custom letters made for Matilda’s room. My mom got a great idea for a mobile from their site. And now I’m hunting for baby beanies for birth of our first child who is due April 6th. I’m going to include a couple of pictures for you to enjoy but in addition to a make over for us moms…these items on Etsy can make over any nursery, wall, or baby item. Enjoy!

Beauty Not Boredom

Techniques to applying makeup  can be as different as the colors shown in this picture.  I am aware that there are makeup guru’s but when it’s all said and done the most important part of applying your makeup is, when I’m done what does it look like on me?  If you try the flashy blue that a super model uses but you look like an 80’s throwback…well that’s not good.

When people ask what colors I use on my lips or eyes for example it’s always a little funny to me because I mix several colors. Some days I don’t but most days I do.  It is because I don’t like the confines of colors and if a shade is too dark I’ll lighten it up or too light I’ll add something a little darker in.

The good news is if you put a color on your eyes , cheeks or lips and you don’t like it…wash it off and start again.  Remember mistakes with make up can go whooshing down the drain as quickly as they were applied.  So have no fear when it comes to putting on your make up. Try colors you would never try, put highlights in new places and see what happens.  Beauty was meant to be experimented with , and you can’t do that if you are stuck to the same colors your wore when you first began wearing makeup in the 7th grade.

Lets all try something new today!  Who knows you may find the next new trend!  Have fun , remember there is only one you, you are unique and special.

Lets glam it up girls!
